Hello and thank you for following The Farmhouse Project! Now that we’ve lost our “property virginity” we’re excited to share our new journey with you.

Let us tell you a little bit about ourselves and the journey we’re about to begin (where’s the wine?).  We’re two “boys” living in the big city – I’m the designer/artist, (slightly) obsessive, the perfectionist, the edgy Martha Stewart-type. He’s the doctor, the free-spirited type, the smartest person I know and a culinary genius.

Enough about us, let’s get to the good stuff. After over a decade of the hustle and bustle of NYC and two draining careers, we decided to unplug and embark on the project of a lifetime: historically renovating a 200 year old farmhouse in upstate NY. A little bit Green Acres, a little bit HGTV Dream Home (on a budget of course).

In 2012 we fell in love with and purchased a home built in 1800 by the Woodman family, owners at the time of the local mill. While it is the oldest home in town, both the house and barn have been well preserved, with original details left untouched. The Woodman house is minutes from the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

We invite you to follow us as we transform our weekend retreat room by room, undertake a variety of DIY projects, adjust to country living and narrowly escape killing each other.

Cheers!

Shawn & Kris
