About Us
Shawn Lang is a product designer, fine artist, and lover of classic interiors and historic homes. Working from his studio, he creates and designs exclusive home wares for The Farmhouse Project, inspired by antiques, old-world traditions, and collaborations with local artisans. This blend of traditional craftsmanship and thoughtful design also shapes the aesthetic and atmosphere of Black Walnut.
He holds degrees in product design and printmaking from the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design and has a long-standing career designing for luxury brands in both the fashion and home industries. In 2017, he and his husband, Kris, co-founded The Farmhouse Project after purchasing and restoring an 1800s farmhouse in Sullivan County — a creative endeavor rooted in craftsmanship, storytelling, and a deep appreciation for place.

Chef Camille Rodriguez, Shawn’s childhood friend and Co-Owner of Black Walnut, brings a deeply personal touch to the restaurant’s kitchen. A graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education, she trained in French and Italian technique and spent time living in Italy, deepening her appreciation for regional traditions and old-world cooking. She later honed her craft in New York City at The Leroy House, Red Cat, Monument Lane, and Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill.
Camille is known for her rustic, seasonal approach and her love of working closely with local and regional farms, while also sourcing the finest specialty ingredients throughout Italy — bringing together a sense of place, tradition, and thoughtful craftsmanship in every dish.
